VibraShieldTM Needle Capping Protector Installation Instructions Needle sticks are rare occurrences, but in today's world they are extremely dangerous. CDC recommends, "An engineered sharps injury protection device should be employed for recapping needles between uses and before disposal." Besides the potential of acquiring HIV/AIDS or hepatitis, the required precautionary treatment for percutaneous injuries is expensive and time consuming. These forms are available with the permission of Eve Cuny, MS, Director of Environmental Health and Safety, University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry, San Francisco, CA. The VibraShield Needle Capping Protector provides a simple and economical solution, as compared to the more expensive and bulky mechanical devices presently available. Its large size provides for a more than adequate shield when recapping the needle, and also acts as a stand for the syringe when not in use. The VibraShield fits most disposable dental needles, including Sherwood Monojectâ, Septodont Septojectâ, and Dentsply Accujectâ. It does not fit, and should not be used with Becton-Dickinson needles, or any other needles that would not fit snugly around the sheath. The VibraShield is to be used for one day only and discarded. It cannot be heat sterilized, but can be wiped with a surface disinfectant. Do not use the VibraShield when it no longer fits tightly on the needle sheath. The VibraShield comes in a convenient dispenser box containing 30 shields (Part No. VS04) VibraShield is CE marked and has a Patent pending. |
